One of Eleuthera's largest settlements is the town of Rock Sound which has an international airport servicing the island's southern end. Front Street, the main road, runs along the seashore, where fishing boats are tied up. The settlement is the gateway to the southern end of the island and offers many opportunities in the immediate area including beautiful beaches, the neighboring settlements of Tarpum Bay, Savannah Sound and Windermere Island. It also has Eleuthera's largest lagoon at Half Sound which is accessible to the Atlantic Ocean. Rock Sound has the island's largest supermarket shopping center, where locals stock up on groceries and supplies.
